Emoticons add a touch of whimsy to your documents - if you have ever used an instant messenger, you have nothing to learn to use emoticons in Live Writer.

When you enter a text snippet that has a matching emoticon - for instance, :-) representing a smiling face - the application automatically converts this to the emoticon. You can select to turn this on or off using the emoticon menu option in the bottom tool bar.
