You can use advanced formatting options such as "format as table" and conditional formatting to style the spreadsheet the way you want.

Resizing columns and rows is simple - select the row/column header and drag and drop the end points to increase or decrease the height/width. You can also double click the header to tell the application to automatically adjust dimensions to fit cell contents.
